A Long Distance Fairytale

Not many people believe that long distance relationships last. There are hundreds of thousands of skeptics out of a probable million who will air out their disbelief in such relationships that will make a couple doubt their trust in each other. I was once one of them until my classmate ended up with her long time long distance boyfriend.

These two met on the online dating site called Cherry Blossom which my female classmate didn't want at first. She said she got annoyed by all of the old dudes who kept sending her messages until such time that some guy her age left a message. As the exchange of emails continued, she asked that he put up his own picture as he didn't have any. To her surprise, he was very good-looking.

From then on, they started having frequent conversations. Because of frequent contact, they developed feelings for each other and got into a relationship. As my classmates found out about the long distance relationship, no one wanted to believe it. Only a few gave long distance relationship advice. Some may give advices but they were really unnecessary.

As time passed, their chat sessions leveled up to constant text messaging ubtil such time that the guy came over to visit. We then knew that this guy was serious because who would want to spend so much money on a trip (United States - Philippines) that you didn't take seriously.

They hung out, spent most of their time together and enjoyed the company of the other. The guy had to go back to New York and they had to part ways. What no one else knew, they already had plans of getting the girl out to New York and get married. And they already are.

You see, if you just get to work on your relationship just like my friend and her husband (who was then her boyfriend) did, you will go a long way. Relationships need work, we all know that. All we need is to know how to make long distance relationships work.
