Dating Online: For The Ugly?

Online dating has been called many things by many people, most of which run along the lines of "for the desperate", "for the ugly", "for sluts who could no longer find love in their hometown", "for the players" and et cetera. Basically, when people say they are dating online, a negative connotation comes along with it.

If you think about it, there is practically nothing wrong with dating online. It's just another form of long distance relationships. But then again, not a lot of the people are pro-long distance relationships.

I've heard so many say that people (guys and girls alike) who date online are either desperate or ugly (or anything negative in between). Whatever their basis was for having such a theory, I don't know. What we do know is that their theory has lived on years after they have gone, yet it still is unproven.

Not everyone who are in long distance relationships, or more famously know as "love online", are desperate. There could be a million reasons why they are in such a situation. It could be because the person they like just happened to live away from there or they moved. As I said, it could be because of anything. We shouldn't stick with the negative connotations. Instead, let us look at the positive side of these relationships.

There has been too much negative vibes already. Once, I remember seeing a comment that said "I date online because I look so much better in pictures." At first, I honestly had to laugh. It wasn't because I believed in that comment, but because I couldn't help imagining the looks of a person who would say such. I may not be that good looking, but I ain't that bad looking to be bold enough and utter those words. *insert evil laugh*

Anyway, dating online is becoming common nowadays. It's the modern form of dating, so they say but it does not and cannot replace the bond couples form when seeing face to face. However, it's an alternative that actually works. Say for example your significant other is working overseas, you can't just leave them because they're no longer around and you see less and less of them, right? The love is definitely still going to be there, what you need to do is to nurture it. That's where long distance relationship advice come in.

Love is a many splendored thing. It is something that we should not expect to come. It just happens. So when you happen to meet the love of your life online, don't consider yourself as someone ugly and desperate. Consider yourself lucky because with the help of technology, you find that one person who could make you smile and gives you more reasons to keep on smiling.
