Standing The Test of Distance

3_Doors_Down_Here_Without_You_Lyrics.mp4 Watch on Posterous
The song Here Without You was one of the many songs that topped the charts of radio stations a few years back. Not only is it a good song by a well-known band, but it's also a song with meaningful lyrics. If you took the time to listen to the song's lyrics, you may already know that it talks about a couple who are separated, not necessarily by distance, but away from each other nonetheless.

But isn't being away from the one you love lonely? How do you stand the test of distance, then?

If it's your first time to be in this kind of situation, you might want to ask questions. Get long distance relationship advice if you have to. Don't be ashamed to ask. After all, most of the time, people prepare themselves to be asked about the frequently asked questions.

Don't let the song's sad aura bring you down. Think of the song as something inspiring. Good luck!

Technology in Long Distance Relationships - Good or Bad?

Keyboard-heart
Striving - that's going to be one adjective that would describe the mortality rate of long distance relationships. Struggling would be the perfect description other people would give to the effort couples give in such relationships. Lucky for these couples, the development in technology nowadays has further enhanced the options for them, making the distance in between appear shorter.

The question is, is using technology enough to make your relationship work?

If you ask most people in long distance romances what ways they employed to make their relationship work, you can count on technology to be part of their first three answers. Sure, it seemingly brings two people together virtually, but are these virtual dates enough to satisfy the longing of two people in love? Of course not. Human beings need to feel the physical touch from their loved ones, even if it means merely holding his or her hand. On average, a person needs to feel that intimacy from their loved one. So do you think technology has a way of solving that problem? Hell, no.

The disadvantage of using technology is that it makes couples forget that they also have to at least visit their loved ones, even just for a day. Problem is, people rely too much on technology to make the relationship work when in fact, you have to at least make an effort to actually be by the side of the one you love. If you're too far away, visiting them twice a month wouldn't hurt that much. Although using Skype or any other social networking site to communicate with your significant other costs you nothing financially, it doesn't improve your state as lovers. It may even be the cause of the death of your relationship.

I'm not saying that technology is a barrier to long distance relationships. What I'm trying to say is that it's more like a temporary way to build a bridge towards your loved one. Take note, temporary, something that should eventually be replaced with the actual face to face talks and bonding couples should do. Make use of what you have, but the real long distance relationship advice that works is to visit them as much as you can.

The Long Distance Couple

Jet_Lag_Simple_Plan_feat_Natasha_Bedingfield_Lyrics.mp4 Watch on Posterous
So many things can happen when two people in love are away from each other. They may do lots of things at the same time just so they can forget (for the meantime) about missing their beloved. However, people don't really see what is actually going on in these lovers' heads.

As you can see in the video, it talks about long distance relationships and how couples in this kind of relationship try to deal with the distance. Phone calls or any route of communication is their best friend. The challenge is when you two are from different time zones. It's going to be tough living in an upside down world.

Many people say it's difficult, or distance relationships can't work but they actually can. With the help of long distance relationship advice, couples can work things out and prove that these relationships are as worthy as short distance ones. Go back up and listen to the lyrics of the song. Put yourself in the shoes of lovers pulled apart and feel how so in love they can still be with each other.

One step away from you is another step to seeing you again; for the world is round and at some point, our paths will cross once again.

The Secret To Making Long Distance Romances A Success

Flash-20110306-5-tips-for-making-longdistance-relationships-work
So many people already have that fixed notion that long distance romances never end up with a happily ever after because they think that "normal" relationships don't always end up happy, so how can some relationship with both parties living apart end up happy? Then again, the success of a relationship oes not rely on how far or how close couples are from each other. I see people who go out almost everyday, but still one of the two finds time to cheat on the other. On the other hand, there are those couples who see less of each other but their love is almost unbreakable.

Since we've established the fact that distance doesn't really count in relationships, how then can couples make their long distance relationships work? It's not as easy as one, two, three but once you've got that rhythm going, you're going to find out that it gets easier as you go along.

As you may have heard from other people time and again, any relationship's foundation should be built on trust. That goes the same for long distance relationships. It's not so different from any other relationship after all, except for the distance of course. However, if you do trust your significant other, you are not going to allow your paranoia to get the best of you. So what if people plant bad ideas in your head such as looking for a substitute? So what if they tell you that your partner may be having an affair outside your relationship? You tend to ignore these things when you have that solid foundation in your relationship. It won't really matter what they have to say and think. It's what goes on in your head and what you believe in that matters a lot.

When you trust someone, you give all or nothing. There can't be anything in between such as I think or I might. You've only got two options: I trust you or I don't trust you. Once you trust a person, everything follows. Once that trust is broken, everything's just going to be a wreck. The secret is trust.

We don't want a ruined relationship, right? We want a relationship that's going to sound like a fairytale come true. So let's start out on the foundation. No one can ever build anything without a solid foundation, or else it will all crumble down. Let's start from the bottom going all the way to the top. If you don't know how to build that trust in your relationship, get long distance relationship advice from people who have the experience and from people you trust. Disregard the naysayers if you must.

People think that love has a formula. It actually doesn't. If one and one put together makes two, then it makes two. If the love fits, then wear it.

Distant Romances - Are You Worth Waiting For?

Distant Romances - Are You Worth Waiting For?

Somehow people have labelled long distance relationships as something that is bound to be torturous and unsuccessful. Others even go as far as getting dirt on the guy or the girl involved just so they can prove that distance relationships never work. Also, there may be others who would tempt you to go get another guy/girl on the hook because you never know, maybe your significant other is doing the same. So why don't you do the same thing?

The above philosophy is distorted but since it's been repeated so many times, the people who continuously repeat the mantra "Long distance relationships don't work" already believe in this lie. It is a lie since many couples separated by the distance have proven time and again that their relationships can work. One example would be the soldiers and their wives or girlfriends. Long distance relationships can work! You just might need to get long distance relationship advice, though.

In the song, the girl sings to the guy she has fallen in love through the internet. It's not as unusual as it seems nowadays, just like long distance relationships, but it's also not as openly accepted either. As a friend had told me a while ago, "When it comes to relationships, it isn't the distance that matters, but the trust of both people." If you are just willing to be there for the one you love, you are going to be someone who is worth waiting for and eventually, someone who is worth keeping.

Staying Away from Temptation When in Distant Romances

Longdistancelove
Sometimes it gets annoying to find out that your special someone always hangs around people whom you know are trying to get to be with them, or otherwise known as "temptations". I know that it is going to be low to get jealous because of such a small thing when there is actually nothing going on between them. However, it is a totally different story when your loved one gets to be surrounded by that one person who is almost or always flirting with them.

When in a long distance relationship, it is greatly adviced that the couples involved be able to carry on with their lives even if they are separated from one another by the distance. It is only rational that their lives move on so that they could grow as an individual, not just limiting theirselves in the little world that they have built for both of them. At least when people go on with their lives, they have a chance to become more productive and more mature. Even if this means hanging around with their friends more than they can with you.

But this doesn't mean that your loved one could do anything they want with other people of the opposite sex. For instance, if a guy whom your girlfriend meets makes a pass at her and she just allows it, it would only be right if the boyfriend would set down his foot and call his girlfriend's attention for it. I mean, hanging out with friends and entertaining a person's feelings to grow is a completely different story. When you talk to your girlfriend about it, don't be so hasty. Be calm and keep your cool. You don't want to end up in a fight.

Couples in long distance relationships should always remember that although it may seem like they're back to being single, they are not. They are already in a relationship and are already committed to someone else, it's just that they can't be together the whole time because of that distance. And it would also help both parties involved to agree to stay away from people who have the potential to ruin their relationship. Or they may opt not to talk about the people who are trying to ruin their relationship by making the other doubtful and suspicious. But if I were to be asked, I'd rather be told what's been going on rather than be blinded by the truth, even if there's nothing wrong.

But the bottom line is that one should stay away from any temptation no matter how good it may seem.
