I don't really get why this is the case but that's proven to be something so difficult to prove. Maybe because many of us have seen a lot of long distance relationships that have gone into flames and ended to tears, but that's not applicable to every story.
From what I've seen, there are people who get into distant relationships just so they can prove to people that these kinds of relationships can't work. It's amazing how much effort these haters take just so they can be proven right. What they don't know is that long distance relationships can actually work if the will power is there. It's all about will power, from what I've observed. Although, add in some of those essential things that one needs for a relationship to work then you're going to be good.
If you don't feel confident enough to be in a distant relationship, get helpful advice from peers. They may not have been in the same situation as you are but hearing what they have to say could help you out of your reverie too, you know. It may not always be good long distance relationship advice but at least you can weigh the things that they have to say against your own views and/or stunted beliefs. You are never alone in this world, after all.
In life, you have to hold on to the things that are important to you. If you love that person, try to take the risk because if you don't, your what ifs are going to kill you eventually.
